Lithium Polysilicate is an inorganic chemical used for surface densification, coating, and binding. It reacts with calcium hydroxide present in the concrete thereby reducing the porosity and densifying the surface for ever.
Lithium Polysilicate is also used in high performance zinc coatings and marine / industrial applications where there is high pigment loading & water and wear resistance is required.
ADVANTAGES
- Forms a stable high ratio, low viscosity solution.
- Once dried, Lithium Polysilicate is relatively insoluble compared to Potassium and Sodium Silicates.
- Efflorescence Scale: Li < K < Na
- Compatible with powdered zinc.
- Little to no waste upon drying. Cost effective.
- High silicate ratio results in lower levels of water in coatings.
- Reduces porosity of concrete surfaces and hence makes the surfaces resistant to water and wear tear.
APPLICATIONS
- Concrete Surface Treatment – Densification and Waterproofing
- Concrete Admixture - Hardeners
- Concrete Coatings, usually as part of the binder system
